Date: Tue, 19 Apr 2011 07:41:57 -0500 Subject: Climbing Club meeting notes from 4/18/11 From: Bethany Drury To: mountaineers@iastate.edu Hey everyone, Here are the notes from the meeting last night: First of all, a HUGE thank you to Joe Leisz and Chris Stolte for bringing dutch oven desserts to the meeting!! They were delicious, and meetings are always more fun with good food. This week is Earth Week! Although the Climbing Club itself isn't doing anything in particular for Earth Week, I strongly suggest that everyone check out some of the amazing events that Ryan talked about that are happening on campus this week. As climbers, we're all very much dependent on the earth for the fantastic rocks and mountains that we climb, so celebrating it seems like a great thing to do. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough interest in the climbing trip to MN next weekend to justify going, so we had to cancel it. We'll be sure to go to Red Wing next semester, though, since it looks like a really fun climbing area. Instead of going to MN, the club will be having an unofficial climbing time at Wall-Nut Creek on Saturday, April 30, sometime in the afternoon (Wall-Nut is open from noon to 6:00pm on Saturdays). If everyone lets me know what time works best for them, I'll send a reminder out next week with the specific details. We don't have any more regular meetings this semester, but it was suggested that we have an unofficial club cookout at Brookside Park next Monday to make up for the fact that we didn't get to cook out last night. We will meet at 7:00pm, most likely at the Maple Shelter at Brookside Park, and if everyone brings their own items to grill the club will provide charcoal. Also, feel free to bring slacklines, frisbees, or whatever else you think would be fun. We held elections for our 2011-2012 club execs last night, and the results are: -President - Bethany Drury -Vice President - Jim Slagle -Trip Coordinator - Bethany Drury -Treasurer - Chris Stolte -Secretary - Kate Hedgpeth -Gear Manager - Ryan Frey -SCC Representative - Janelle Baideme -Sustainability Chair - Ryan Frey -Social Media Chair - Chris Stolte Congratulations to all of our 2011-2012 execs!! If any of you have any questions about your position, duties, or anything else at all, don't hesitate to ask me, Dan, or the outgoing exec whose position you are taking. Chris Stolte gave us an update on our club t-shirts, which he hopes to have completed before school gets out for the summer. Since he didn't get a response from the company he originally contacted, the t-shirts will now be printed at Intensitee here in Ames, and will cost club members around $10. Chris will be sending out an email to the club in the near future inquiring about which sizes people would like, so if you want a club t-shirt be sure to let him know which size you want when you get his email. We are going to try to reserve Physics 0003 for our club meetings next semester, so unless I let you know otherwise that is where you can plan on finding us in August. Well I think that's everything!
