Date: Tue, 12 Apr 2011 08:31:29 -0500 Subject: Climbing club meeting minutes from 4/11/11 From: Bethany Drury To: mountaineers@iastate.edu Hi everyone, Here are the notes from the meeting last night: Our next climbing trip will be April 29-May 1, and we'll be going to Red Wing, MN. For more information about Red Wing, check this out: http://www.mountainproject.com/v/minnesota/barn_bluff_red_wing/105812663 . The cost will be approximately $30 per person, and sign-up for the trip will begin next Monday (April 18) and will be open until the Monday after that (April 25). The climbing club will be donating one of our retired climbing ropes to the Leaders for Sustainable Communities club for their VEISHEA exhibit, so if you have the chance you should visit their booth during VEISHEA and see the creative ways they're recycling our used rope. Thanks to Jim's excellent presentation we now all know a lot more about climbing shoes, and I hope you all had a good time chatting with Jordan about climbing shoe design. Hopefully the shoes he designs will actually get made and we'll get to try them out! Our next club meeting will be held at *Brookside Park* (weather permitting), and will begin at *7:00pm* instead of 8:00pm. We'll be electing our 2011-2012 club execs, so this will be a very important meeting to attend whether you plan to run for an exec position or not. Bring your own items to grill and things to drink, and Chris Stolte will kindly be cooking us dessert in his dutch oven (yum). Directions to Brookside Park can be found here:http://www.stuorg.iastate.edu/mcc/places/Brookside/, and we'll most likely be in the Maple Shelter, which is the one closest to the parking lot. If you have any questions about anything, let me know! See you all next week, -- Bethany Drury President, Trip Coordinator ISU Mountaineering and Climbing Club
