Date: Tue, 5 Apr 2011 12:24:42 -0500 Subject: Climbing Club meeting minutes from 4-4-11 From: Bethany Drury To: mountaineers@iastate.edu Hi everyone, Here are the notes from the meeting last night: We discussed the possibility of posting the link on our website that will allow visitors to donate to The Nature Conservancy, and since everyone is in favor of it all that's left with that process is making sure it's alright with ISU and getting it posted. Our next trip will be April 29-May 1 and we'll be going to Redwing, MN. Sign up for that trip will start in two weeks, so if you'd like to come, go ahead and put it on your calendar and be ready to sign up in a few weeks. We had a presentation about climbing route ratings that I hope will help all of you better understand what we're talking about when we're discussing routes as we're out climbing. The climbing club's unofficial climbing time at Wall-Nut Creek climbing gym will be Wed. from 7-9pm. I won't be going because I have a previous commitment, and I don't think Dan will be able to make it either. However, if you would like a ride, feel free to contact me anyway and I'll try to connect you with someone who is going. The Leaders for Sustainable Communities, a student group on campus whose goal it is to increase student awareness of environmental issues and promote sustainable practices on campus, has emailed me asking if the climbing club would be willing to donate a retired climbing rope to them so that they could use it to make bracelets at their VEISHEA booth. How does everyone feel about this? I know we have some retired ropes, although I don't know how clean or bracelet-worthy they are. But if everyone likes the idea of donating one to this group, I'll go ahead and let them know. I know we didn't discuss this at the meeting, but I wanted everyone's opinion on it as quickly as possible. I think that's everything we talked about, but if you have any questions about anything, please feel free to contact me. See you all next week! -- Bethany Drury President, Trip Coordinator ISU Mountaineering and Climbing Club
