Date: Tue, 27 Sep 2011 09:15:16 -0500 Subject: MCC minutes from 9-26-11 From: Bethany Drury To: mountaineers@iastate.edu Hi mountaineers! Never let it be said that some rain kept us from having a good time! I hope everyone who came to last night's meeting had fun and enjoyed trying some slacklining. Also, a HUGE thanks to Chris for making us a delicious cobbler in his dutch oven! Since we didn't really have a business meeting yesterday, the main item of information that needed to be shared is about the upcoming climbing trip, which is why you're getting this email from me rather than Kate this week. Sign up for the climbing trip opened last night and is open through next Monday (Oct. 3). If you'd like to sign up you can tell me at the next meeting or just send me an email. The dates of the trip at Oct. 7-9, and we'll be going to Capen Park, MO, which has a good selection of beginner and more advanced routes and is right by the University of Missouri in Columbia. If you'd like to learn more about the climbing area, you can read about it here: http://www.mountainproject.com/v/capen-park/106284587. The cost of the trip will depend slightly on how many people sign up, but will most likely be $25 or $30 per person to cover gas. Camping will be free. We'll go over more details about the trip at the next climbing club meeting, but if you have any questions about it, please feel free to email me. Remember: the club will provide ALL of the climbing gear. A few other notes from the meeting: The club has t-shirts for sale, and they are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. If you'd like one, just contact Chris at cjstolte@iastate.eduor come talk to one of the execs at any meeting. The club will have its unofficial climbing time at Wall-Nut Creek climbing gym on Wed. from 7-9pm. Directions to the gym and more info about it can be found here: http://www.iowaclimbing.com/. I think that's everything, but please email me if you have any questions! See you all next week, -- Bethany Drury President, Trip Coordinator ISU Mountaineering and Climbing Club
